Does Fear Stop You from Starting—or Finishing—Your Creative Pursuits?

How many creative projects are on your “to-do” list?

Maybe they’re not on your immediate to-do list … because, well, you’re busy. But you’d really like to get to them … “someday.”

If you had time. If you had talent. If you weren’t failing.

Does this frame of mind sound familiar?

If you’re attracting money in fear, then you end up attracting fear along with any money you bring in.

And do you know what fear does? It stops us from doing what we’re meant to do: our creative work.

It’s no surprise to you, then, that procrastination and perfectionism are rooted in fear-based emotions.

And these can grip even the best of us.

Which is why I invited Samantha Bennett, author of “Get It Done: From Procrastination to Creative Genius in Just 15 Minutes a Day,” to join me on the Love-Based Money Podcast. She’s sharing how to get past procrastination and perfectionism in just 15 minutes per day. And it works! I’ve experienced it, myself.

Is the LOA working for you?

Have you ever felt like the Law of Attraction just isn’t working for you, and maybe it’s all a bunch of baloney?

I have good news: The Law of Attraction does work—IF you use it correctly. Chances are, if you’re not getting what you want, then you’re not using it correctly. And you’re not alone: when I first encountered it, I didn’t use it right.

Hint: it’s about more than just thinking – or NOT thinking – about something!

On my new Love-Based Business blog, I’m sharing a powerful 2-step process for shifting your mindset—and getting the Law of Attraction to work for you.

“Go Big or Go Home”: Is It True?

MPW Flip It Epi 3

You’ve undoubtedly heard the expression: “Go Big or Go Home.”

But is it true?

Should you always follow that advice?

In the latest episode of my new Web TV show, “Flip It!” I examine whether you should always go big or go home … or whether you may consider running your life a little differently.

I think you may be surprised!

“Flip It!” is all about shifting your perspective so you can get what you want out of life and business—check it out here:

When Mean People Come Calling …

If you’ve ever put yourself out there, whether it’s in the form of a blog post, a podcast, a talk or speech, a book, or any other creative endeavor, you’ve undoubtedly come across them: mean people.

In my experience, whenever someone gets visible, at least one or two mean people come out of the woodwork to spew their criticism or feedback … in a nasty way.

It’s unfortunate, and it can sting, as I know from personal experience!

I wanted to offer you a new perspective on dealing with mean people, so that when they rear their ugly heads (and they DO!), you’re equipped to handle it without letting it hurt your feelings (well, without letting it hurt your feelings too much).

Head on over to my Love-Based Business Blog to hear about how one interaction with a mean person helped me change my perspective, as well as what I learned and how you can apply it to your situation.

A New, Love-Based Approach to the Product Launch

The product launch:

How do those 3-words make you feel?

Does it strike fear into your heart? Increase your stress?

When you think of a product launch, which metrics do you consider? Probably sales, right? Conversions? Dollar signs?

And … there’s that stress again, right?

Let’s view the almighty product launch from a different angle, for a moment.

Aside from money, there are many benefits to doing a product launch when you’re a spiritual, conscious entrepreneur.

And when you view the product launch through a love-based lens, you’re far less likely to feel stressed and far more likely to take the pressure off and actually enjoy your launch.

And, as an awesome side benefit, you’ll still grow your business in a love-based way!

Check it out on my new Love-Based Business Blog:

A New, Love-Based Approach to the Product Launch: Why Launching a Product Can Be a BIG Win, Even If You Don’t Make Many Sales

Is Email Marketing Dead?

MPW Flip It Epi 2

Most entrepreneurs know that building an email list is a great way to build your business.

Why?

Well, for many reasons!

First of all, when you have your own email list, you retain control, unlike when you build a community on a social media platform that could go defunct at any moment (MySpace, anyone?).

Also, email lists give you the ability to send targeted marketing materials to your ideal clients based on their past behavior.

And you’ve tried it! But lately, when you send out emails, you don’t make any sales. In fact, you don’t get much of a response at all.

You’re starting to believe that email marketing is dead.

But is it? And could you change the results you’re getting?

Find out when you watch Episode 2 of my new Web TV show, Flip It.

What If You Could Sell More … with Love?

Sales copy. Direct response copywriting. Marketing copy.

These words and phrases often strike right to the heart of many conscious or spiritual entrepreneurs.

Why?

Because in many cases, traditional direct response copywriting can feel inauthentic and sales-y.

Have you ever stopped to think about why that is?

A lot of traditional direct response copywriting is based on tapping into fear-based emotions like guilt, scarcity, and shame (and, of course, fear).

Effective copywriting does need to tap into emotions, but what if I told you there is a different approach—one that is effective while allowing you to feel authentic?

You DO have a choice.

And you can choose to write love-based direct response copy.

I explain it in a post over on my new blog:

A New Perspective on Direct Response Copywriting: How to Sell More with Love

Do You LOVE Your Business?

Let’s talk about relationships for a minute. (I know. You’re probably wondering if this is relevant to business, and I assure you, it is!)

You’ve seen (or even experienced) those relationships where people take each other for granted. One person just expects that another person will be there, without any real sense of excitement or passion.

And you’ve seen (or experienced) those passion-filled relationships, where the two people can’t get enough of each other.

Which one feels better to you?

If you said the second one—the passion-filled relationship—then you’re in luck.

I’m about to share several ideas for infusing your business with that same energy, that same excitement, and that same passion.

When you do, abundance, money, and opportunities will flow in!

Check it out on the Love-Based Business blog.

As a Love-Based Business Owner, What’s the Best Way to Handle Refund Requests?

Recently, in one of the high-level Facebook entrepreneurial groups I’m in, someone posted asking about handling refund requests.Creativity_03

In a nutshell, this entrepreneur had a very clear (and very clearly stated) guarantee policy on her sales letter, but she wanted to know what to do about people who wanted an “exception” made for them — specifically their lives changed since they bought the program (maybe they were in a car accident or their mother got sick or they had decided they decided they didn’t want to be an entrepreneur anymore and were getting a job) and now they wanted their money back even though it didn’t fit under the terms of the guarantee policy.

And when they were told no, they would sometimes get upset and say things like “well I thought you were heart-centered.”

Now, on the surface, this seems pretty cut and dried. There’s a clear guarantee/refund policy stated, therefore the entrepreneur was perfectly within her rights to turn them down and think nothing more about it. Continue reading

To Outsource or Not To Outsource: A Checklist

Chatting this week on PW Unplugged Radio with Christina Hills about all the reasons why you should NOT outsource your website technical support, got me thinking about this whole notion of outsourcing in general.MulitTask_01

A lot of folks will have you believe if you own a business, you MUST outsource and hire contractors and virtual assistants and build a team and whatnot, and if you’re not doing that than you’re in some sort of Resistance.

I don’t necessarily believe that’s true. In fact, I would go as far as to say that view is a little too simplistic.

So, to help you figure out what you should (and shouldn’t) be outsourcing, below is a handy dandy checklist. Continue reading

3 Keys to Writing Love-Based Copy

If you’re like most conscious, heart-centered entrepreneurs, experts, healers, coaches, speakers and authors, you probably have a love-hate relationship with direct response copy (which is copy pieces like emails and online sales letters that inspire you to take action, nothing to do with protecting your intellectual property or putting a copyright on something).DoItForYou_03

You know direct response copy can help you grow your business and get your gifts out into the world in a bigger way, (not to mention bring to life that elusive “make money while you sleep” notion you keep hearing about). But it makes you feel “yucky” — doesn’t it? It doesn’t feel authentic to you, your business or your brand, and even feels slime-y and sales-y.

So what do you do?

Until now, your choices were to suck it up or just suffer knowing you’re never going to grow your business, or make the big difference you were meant to make. But with love-based copywriting, all that changes.

Now you can enjoy the results of direct response copywriting without suffering through the icky-ness. And that’s because a lot of traditional direct response copy is fear-based, which means it triggers emotions like fear, guilt and shame. But you don’t have to trigger those emotions, you can instead trigger love-based emotions such as love, hope and respect.

So how do you do that? Below are 3 keys to get you started. Continue reading
