For those of you who follow me, you already have an inkling as to how many events I go to each year. (In fact, there’s an excellent chance I may have met YOU at an event.)
I’m a big believer in attending events. Before I discovered all the entrepreneurial ones, I attended writer events. To me, nothing beats getting out of your own space and talking to your fellow tribe members (not to mention being exposed to fresh information and content).
And, at least for me, it also helps your creativity. My creativity needs fuel — and one way I get that fuel is by exposing myself to other people, other ideas, other perspectives (even if I don’t always agree with it) other information, etc. Plus my muse loves the fellow connecting and brainstorming with like-minded, creative souls. (After all, creativity does not take place in a vacuum.)
Now, I like these Friday Creativity Jolts to be creative exercises you can do over a weekend — and I get if you didn’t already have plans to be at an event this weekend, it’s probably not going to happen. So instead I’d like to challenge you to take a look at your calendar for the year and look at what events you’ve scheduled for yourself.
Oh? Did I hear you don’t have any events planned? Well maybe this is an excellent time to actually schedule one.
You also may want to look at going to an event you normally would never attend. Maybe you check a yoga or meditation retreat or a writing workshop or a creativity immersion or an entrepreneurial event. You could even try a local Meet Up for something fun and different.
There are plenty events to choose from — what’s calling you?
Would love to hear your thoughts and how this works out for you.
